Shake it off, Shake it off…

From the city that brought you your Constitution, brotherly love and the indomitable spirit of Rocky, AMERICA, you have always been great! So let the players play and the haters hate. America, you stay great, great, great, great, great, and shake it off, shake it off. Yeah. I went there.

    Rape is Rape!

As a survivor of rape, it sickens me to my core that a rapist is a presidential candidate. Rape is rape! Stop living in the shadows and speak out for your sisters, your mothers, your daughters, your wives! A vote for Hillary is a vote against rape and those who see us females as nothing but sexual objects to demean and control. STOP THIS!!! SPEAK OUT AGAINST RAPE!!! I’m with Hillary. Who are you with?

Did you ever get your real website up?

      • ContactRida 6:42 pm on November 5, 2015 Permalink | Reply

hey Matt:) I drove last week from Philadelphia, PA to Farmington, New Mexico, 2300 miles. I now live and work in New Mexico. Adjusting to life is all i have time for. I sometimes think people online don’t have offline lives. Perhaps that’s just the asshole in me:) Hope you are doing well…Rida-

Congratulations! (I think!) I hope that it was good – I know I’d be thrilled to get out of PA and move to somewhere warm – but it always depends on the situation, doesn’t it? Well, if you’re not blogging much or at all, I’d still like to keep in touch with such a cool person. Send me an email every once in a while and let me know what’s going on with you. matthew.alan.bennett@gmail.com

    Have a Heterosexual Day

We have just enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another. Jonathan Swift (1667-1745) Irish author, clergyman and satirist, best known for his 1728 classic, Gulliver’s Travels.

    I Tried Being Tasteful...

From The Daily Kos:  “One Fine Morning in Arizona”

    [Jingle Jangle!]

Shop owner: Hello! Welcome to Widget Barn! How can I help you in a totally heterosexual way?
Customer: Yes, I’m looking for a widget.
Shop owner: In a totally heterosexual way?
    Customer: Huh?
Shop owner: It’s my sincere religious belief that I can only serve heterosexuals here. You…are heterosexual, I presume.
    Customer: How can you tell?
Shop owner: Well, you drove up in a Chevy pickup. You’re wearing a John Deere hat. Those work boots have clearly gotten a workout in the heterosexual dirt…
    Customer: I’m not lisping.
    Shop owner: That, too!
Customer: I’m not prancing. I’m not dropping any soap. I’m not humming Donna Summer…
    Shop owner: …or YMCA.
Customer: Still, I could be putting on an act. You know how good gays are at acting. I hear Hollywood’s full of them.

    really? another fire?

after a god awful 7 days of no ‘me’ time [see previous post] (i can not function unless i have at least 6 hours a day that are just for me. seriously? ok. i’ll go as low as 5, but it was a week from hell which i thought was topped off by me getting a 79.92 on my exam today, but the universe said, “But wait, there’s more!”), i arrive home and the mother loving fire alarm goes off again! I waited 15 minutes. it didn’t stop. i walked onto the terrace and see fire trucks. i didn’t bother to film this 2nd fire. just took some grainy picks. sorry. the fire was in apt 712, another kitchen fire. i know i will develop OCD over the oven now. i’ve already started checking the knobs. this is how ‘mental’ shit starts.

    the most resilient parasite

I called the financial aid office on friday before work. School starts monday and I didn’t receive any official letter of aid… well I didn’t open any mail, official or otherwise, for the past 5 weeks. I’m funny like that. So I was bumped around from office to office since departments don’t like to share information. After 10 minutes, I finally got to my aid guy. He said this is the last semester I can receive financial aid. I am totally maxed out. These 6 credits are paid for but nothing else. He said I could only qualify for aid if I went to medical school or pharmacy school; a Doctorate in Nursing would not be financed.

So that was the idea (the most resilient parasite) that was planted in my head on friday and that idea has not left since. If I need financial aid, it is there for me if I want to become a doctor. A doctor. A work in progress indeed…. Dr. Rida, has a nice ring to it.

But wait, there’s more. Financial aid guy said there was a two dollar balance left on my account. I won’t be able to attend class on monday if it was not paid. Nice.

I tried to find quality INCEPTION clips that explained how powerful an idea can be. I really love this movie and have seen it easily 20xs. But I found so much more. The last 2 vids are parodies. The 1st one had me in tears:)

Hi. My name is Zin (not really) and I am a blocked artist.

we are all blocked sometimes, more often than not, by ourselves. throw caution to the wind and just write whatever your fingers will allow…

    Chasing The Red Thread

I have been struggling with blocks for many years. When I was in college, this was not the case. I was churning out awesome work all the time. In between my many demanding classes I was producing work on the side, just for fun. I was always creating something.

It flowed and it was effortless.

Then things changed. I don’t know what happened, and I’m sure it wasn’t just one thing, but gradually I started losing my grip on my creativity. A stumble here and delay there. Other artists were progressing, but I wasn’t.

The career in games I had studied for never appeared. I was instead hired to an engineering firm as their only artist to render perspective projects. A fine starting job, but the next time I looked around years had flown past, and I? I had gone nowhere. And worse, my skills hadn’t either, while the…

    out of view (conclusion)

    Work in Progress...

If he could change anything, it would be to have someone to share his thoughts with. “That doesn’t make me weak,” he whispered out loud, almost afraid someone or something could hear him and judge him. He stood naked in the center of his warehouse studio condo. He purchased it for a steal in 2009. He bought it specifically because it faced a brick wall and had a private entrance. “The owner is very eager to negotiate price since this unit does not have a view and is in the middle of renovations.” said the anxious realtor, when she showed him the listing. The unfinished renovations was a bonus to him but he didn’t let on. He loved the feel of the antique wide plank flooring under his bare feet. The realtor said the boards were salvaged from a church built in 1841. He felt that was a sign. A…

    Work in Progress...

A man in a wheelchair crosses the street. There are three lanes of traffic: in the north curb lane a woman in a Mercedes Benz observes, in the center lane a man in a beat-up half-ton pickup truck watches. In the south curb lane, a bike messenger waits for the light to turn.”

Sandy straddles her bike at the light. She wipes sweat from the corner of her eye with her sun-weathered knuckle, slightly lifting her shades. “Shit!” she thought as she watched the man in the wheelchair cross the street. Seeing his black leather glove grip and release the chrome pushrim of his rear wheel, she realized she left her gloves at the reception counter on her last stop. Now she would have to double back after the next drop. It wasn’t a long ride but the sticky, breeze-less city air made the extra trip irritating. As…

Lessons from a Swedish co-ed sauna

yes it is a sad commentary on american males. when i spent a summer studying abroad, i noticed the difference in the attitudes of nudity (hell, even in Canada, there is a difference). while i did not go nude in europe, i did wear skimpier clothing without the leering eyes of american males. i don’t think in this country, nudity will ever be equated with just not having clothes on. very sad. with Girls Gone Wild and breastaurants (Hooters), females will always be sex objects in this country. also, i noticed in europe, that i wasn’t looked upon as a slut for having sex and enjoying having sex out of wedlock or absent a relationship. americans are uptight crabapples when it comes to sex, nudity and freedom of expression.

Herräng, Sweden is home to the largest swing-dance camp in the world. It hosts hundreds of multi-national dancers in one small town for a month, literally doubling their population every year. Dancers spend their days taking classes, hiking, paddling rowboats, making new friends, dancing the night away to live music, or relaxing in the co-ed sauna.

Co-ed sauna. Those words struck fear into my heart. I was raised to believe that being naked meant asking for sex. I hated that I my C-cup breasts drew unwanted attention at age 15 as much as they did at age 21. I remember wearing a v-neck top—a modest one—and my then boyfriend trying to feel me up all night because, as he said, “why would you wear that top if you didn’t want the attention?” In short, I was terrified of being naked or showing skin.

The only naked female bodies I had…
